2015 Holiday Tournament Results
The Men’s Club caught a beautiful sunny day in between the welcome rains for it’s Holiday tournament on Saturday, December 12, 2015. One hundred-four golfers participated in the four man team two best ball net competition. Congratulations to the team of Randy Kemp, Dale Baird, Jim Wiley, and John Butler for posting the lowest overall net score of 119. The full results are published elsewhere in the Villager, on the Men’s Club website, and in the posting room. Thanks to Mike Reed and the pro shop staff for a well run tournament.
This was the last of seventeen tournaments (including the Evergreen Invitational) sponsored by the Men’s Club in 2015. There were a total of 1,579 rounds played with an average of 93 players per tournament. Sweeps and cash prizes of $28,199 (funded by entry fees) were distributed to approximately 280 golfers (including guests) in those events. It has been a busy year and Tom Morse and Ray Struck, Men’s Club tournament co-chairman, wish to thank all who participated and volunteered to assist with the tournaments. Special thanks goes to Kathryn Apgar for her assistance with the Memorial Day and Labor Day Mixers, Dick Fisher for website information, Kory Tran with the Villager, Mike Reed and the entire pro shop staff, and John Yu and Albert Salcedo plus the entire clubhouse staff for making the 2015 season a success.

Veteran's Day Tournament - Results
November 14, 2015
Ninety-nine golfers participated in the annual Men’s Club Veteran’s Day tournament held on Saturday, November 14, 2015. Mixed tees of red, white and blue were used. The tournament included a 2 BB four person team event and separate individual flag play where players planted their flags at the point that their score totaled 72 plus their handicap. At the end multiple flags were seen decorating the 16th (14), 17th (24), and 18th (33) holes. Twenty-five golfers were able to shoot their handicap and place their flag in the 18th hole. They will receive $15 each in sweeps as will the brave and anonymous golfer who was first to plant his flag on the 16th fairway. The results of the team competition and closest to the pin on hole #11 are available in the posting room and the Men’s Club website with the results posting and will soon appear in the Villager.

2015 Fall Classic - Results
October 17, 2015
The Men’s Golf Club held their annual Fall Classic Tournament followed by the Annual Meeting and Luncheon on October 17, 2015. Ninety-six golfers teed off in the two person team event which was a Chapman Alternate Shot format (a combination of regular golf, scramble, and alternate shot).
The winners of the five flights are listed below, but special recognition goes to the teams of Matt Orvick & Dave Needham and Ted Briscoe & Jim Castle for posting the best low net scores of 63.
Thanks to Mike Reed and the pro shop staff and to John Yu, Albert Salcedo, and the clubhouse staff for their assistance in making this another enjoyable day at The Villages.

Congratulation to Jim Brigham for winning the Scratch Flight. Jim finished second last year. Also, well done to Joel Levine, who won his flight for the second year in a row.
The Men's Golf Club thanks all of the players in the Club Championship flights and matches for their participation and sportsmanship.
The Club Championship winners will have their names recorded on the Bistro Sports Wall and will receive a trophy at the Men’s Golf Club annual awards luncheon and meeting on Saturday, October 17 (After the Fall Classic Tournament – 8:00 AM Shotgun).
2015 Labor Day Mixer Results
The 2015 Labor Day Mixed Couples tournament sponsored by the Men’s Club and the 18 Hole Women’s Golf Association was held on Sunday, September 6th, and Monday, September 7th. Fifty-two golfers participated in the two day event and forty-eight in the one day competition with twenty additional guests joining the golfers on Monday evening for a delicious South of the Border buffet dinner.
Two day tournament winners in the first flight were Jim and Kathleen Holt and David and Janet Gonzales with a score of 244; second flight winners were Jack and Gwen Bindon and Ray and Cathy Struck with a 257.
First flight winners of the one day tournament were Syd and Barbara Geraghty and Rick Ricksecker and Dorene Vettel with an amazing score of 113; second flight winners were David and Susan Bacigalupi and Nick and Carleen Corsello with a 130. Individual plaudits go to Hal Hallock for a natural eagle on hole nine and to Gwen Bindon for posting her best-ever anywhere eighteen hole score of 97 on Sunday.
Serious empathy goes to the team of Bob and Geri Wilk and Andrew and Karen Harsany who also posted a score of 113 in the first flight of the one day tournament but lost in a card-off to the winners. Congratulations to all winners and all who played in this enjoyable event in which 60% of the competitors received sweeps prizes. Thanks to Mike Reed and the pro shop staff and to John Yu, Albert Salcedo, and the clubhouse staff for their expertise and service.

2015 Summer Open Tournament - Results
August 14, 2015
Eighty-four golfers teed off in the Men’s Club Summer Open Tournament on August 15, 2015. This was the last medal play tournament of the year for individual points in the Player of the Year competition and was also a team competition of one BB net on the odd holes and two BB net on the even holes. Only two strokes separated the top three places in each flight. Closest to the pin winners by individual handicap flight on hole eleven were David Gonzales, John Seeger, and Terry Barnhart. Thanks to the pro shop and clubhouse staff for their assistance with scoring and lunch.

2015 Beat the Pro Tournament - Results
July 25, 2015
The Men’s Golf Club held it’s annual Beat The Pro scramble tournament on Saturday afternoon July 25, 2015 with some unusual results. The pro team, captained by Mike Reed and Tim Flanagan, shot a 61 instead of a 58 last year and, because of that, 16 of the 17 teams (63 of the 67 golfers) "Beat the Pro" team and shared in the sweeps prizes. The one foursome who didn’t beat the pros shall remain nameless. The closest to the pin competition on hole # 4 was remarkable in that the shortest possible distance (A HOLE IN ONE!) was recorded by John Bindon to win the second flight and a very long distance (56+ ft.) by Jeff Schlageter won the third flight. Jim Valenti was closest in the first flight. Following play about twentyfive guests joined the golfers for pizza and beverages at the gazebo on a beautiful Villages summer day.

2015 MEMBER/MEMBER TOURNAMENT RESULTS
Seventy-eight members (vs. 60 in 2014) participated in the annual Men’s Club Member-Member two day net tournament on June 26th and 27th, 2015. Thirty-three of the players were winners in either the sweeps or the optional cash pool both of which were swelled by increased participation. Thanks to the Clubhouse staff for an enjoyable lunch and to the Pro Shop staff for their tireless and timely assistance with scoring compilation and sign up.
The Tournament was an enjoyable two day event for all except that multiple concerns were expressed regarding pace of play on both days. The Men’s Club strongly encourages it’s members to always be aware of their position on the golf course and to examine their individual games to come up with ways to save time during their round.

Annual Picnic Tournament
June 13, 2015
The Annual Picnic Tournament brought out 112 golfers on a warm late-Spring morning where coffee and donuts got things started and play ended with a great picnic serving sausage appetizers, chopped sirloin burgers, big dinner dogs, potato salad, baked beans with all the fixings and a choice of beverages.

MEMORIAL DAY MIXER RESULTS
The Memorial Day-Mixed Couples Tournament was held on a beautiful Sunday and Monday, May 24th and 25th, 2015. Forty-four golfers participated in the two day event and fifty-six in the single day event.
The foursome of Tom Morse, Camille Giuliodibari, and John and Gwen Bindon blew everyone away with a sterling two day total of 248 in the Jack & Jill two best ball event. Of note is the fact that John and Gwen have been on the winning team two years in a row. Congratulations! Most improved foursome in the two day was the team of John Thomas, Selma Chastaine, Craig Swarthout, and Akemi Christianson shaving nineteen strokes off their Sunday score to a 124 in the Monday two best ball Jack & Jill event. Overall low net in the one day event was the team of Ray and Chris Leisy and Bob and Geri Wilk with a well-played 123.
Thanks to the Pro Shop and the Clubhouse for their professional efforts and a special thanks to Yvonne Camper for the photography and Mary Little for the AV at the dinner.

RESULTS - 2015 SENIOR NET CHAMPIONSHIP
One hundred-fourteen golfers teed off in Men’s Golf Club Senior Net Championship on May 9, 2015. Flights were set by age and there were twenty-four participants in the oldest (and wisest) flight (see "Iron Men - Young at Heart" photo below) ranging in age from seventy-nine to ninety-one. Conditions were cool but some of the scores were hot with a gross 71 posted by David Gonzales in Flight One and a net 61 posted by Terry Barnhart in Flight Four. The rest of the winners are listed elsewhere and in the clubhouse posting room. There was considerable consternation overheard afterward for all the “gimme” putts that were missed and other misadventures on the course. Counting them all is humbling at times! Thanks to John Yu and Albert Salcedo for a nice luncheon and to Mike Reed and the pro shop for their timely scoring results and registration. Congratulations to all who played.
